7 tips - how to write a good B2B headline

Av Klara Carlsson August 14, 2024

Writing a good headline is an art, especially in B2B where the aim of a text is often to attract an already knowledgeable audience. It doesn't matter how interesting or exciting your text is, without a good headline, there's a good chance it won't be read at all.

If you are a frequent writer, you know how difficult it can be to come up with a good headline. The headline is often set at the end of the text and sometimes it can feel impossible to come up with that short little snippet of text that will act as the crown on the work. In B2B, the requirement for headlines is, if possible, even higher, and it is important to quickly grab the attention of the often well-read recipient.

In this article, we'll give you our top tips on how to write impactful B2B headlines that entice further reading.

1. Be clear

A good headline should be clear and direct. Avoid misunderstandings and focus on giving a clear picture of what the reader can expect from the content.

For example
Instead of: "Tips for writing"

Try: "Concrete tips for B2B writing"

2. Keep it short

Today, people are often short of time. A concise headline that quickly communicates the content has a better chance of grabbing the reader's attention.

For example
Instead of: "How to get better at creating marketing for B2B"
Try: "How to improve your B2B marketing"

3. Arouse curiosity

A good headline can also arouse curiosity by promising new knowledge or insights. By using an unexpected angle, you can make the reader want to know more and keep reading.

Example:
"The new revolutionary technology that creates content in no time"

4. use numbers

Numbers in headings create structure and set a clear expectation of content. It is particularly suitable for B2B readers who often seek concrete and useful information.

Examples
"7 steps to a successful B2B campaign"

5. use powerful words

Strong words like "discover", "secret", "improve" and "fast" can make the headline more engaging and action-driven.

Example:
"Discover the secret of our successful B2B campaign"

6. ask a question

Questions engage the reader directly and arouse curiosity. Make sure the question is relevant to the problems and interests of your target audience.

Example:
"How can AI change your marketing?"

7. customize for SEO

Include relevant keywords in your headlines to improve search engine optimization (SEO). Then, when your target audience searches for information on the topic online, it will be easier for them to find you.

Example:
"Ten concrete tips on inbound marketing"

By applying these tips, you can create headlines that not only grab attention, but also increase the likelihood of your content being read. Remember to always test different variations and analyze the results to continuously improve your headlines.

Good luck to you!
